Monitor industry good practice and implement practices relevant to the Group. We continued to work with the Home Builders Federation (HBF) to share information and learn from our peers. We will continue to work with the HBF.

Director Safety Tours. 41 operational Directors trained. Lower than targeted level of implementation due to stress on the business.
Incident Reporting and Investigation. Completed – 204 managers trained.
Corporate Risk Assessment. Updated, and 204 (all) Crest risk assessors trained.
Control Implementation Processes. Under the requirements of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2007, 141 managers were trained.

Develop training requirements for every position within Crest Nicholson. Completed. Monitor and maintain the health and safety training standards.
Achieve 630 person days of health and safety training. Completed 549 person days of health and safety training, a 25% increase on FY07 (415).
Training was significantly reduced during the last four months of the financial year due to the economic downturn.
Achieve 200 person days of health and safety training.
Continue to identify key areas of focus for site training. Four new safety awareness courses developed: asbestos, confined spaces, excavations and construction transport. Deliver the new awareness training.
Continue to develop new procedures for working at height.
Launch a campaign to address risks associated with people falling at the same level

Maintain an Annual Injury Incident Rate (AIIR) below the construction industry average. 23 RIDDOR reportable incidents in 2008 (21 FY07) resulting in a rise in the AIIR to 923 (734 FY07), above the Construction Industry Average of 835.
